Duranta is a species of flowering shrub, widely cultivated as an ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical gardens. It can grow to 6 m (20 ft) tall and can spread to an equal width. There are a wide variety of cultivars available. Orchid-like flowers may be light blue to light purple in color. 'Alba' is a white-flowered cultivar, that bears drooping clusters of tubular, white flowers that appear as long as the conditions are favourable. The flowers, which are attractive to butterflies, are followed by dangling chains of orange-yellow fruits.
